Common Read ~ 11-15-15

Mark your calendars for our upcoming congregational Common Read, Sunday, November 15, following the church service. If you have never participated in one of these, we take time to read a common book, then come together for light lunch and to share our impressions and experiences for a few hours in the Social Room.

We’re breaking with tradition by choosing a book that has not yet been recommended by the UUA. This year, we will be reading Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande. Perhaps you already own the book, or know someone who has a copy you can borrow. We have purchased several copies that are available for check-out in the library.

Everyone I’ve talked to so far who has read the book has found it worthwhile and pertinent in some way to their own family situations. So, read the book, join the discussion, and contribute to deepening our shared experience with one another.

This is such an important book! I think it was a fine choice for our Common Read and I know many members of the congregation are planning on being part of the discussion. That’s good news!
