Karen Wells and Relani Prudhomme have received a grant to write and produce a musical they are calling “Working in the North Country,” modeled on Studs Terkel’s book “Working.” It will be presented at Pickens Hall in Heuvelton on April 28, 29, & 30 in recognition of Workers Memorial Day. The musical is developed from interviews with members of the working community of the North Country.
The script, the music and transcripts must be completed by March 31, and they are still looking for some interesting stories, accounts of hardships, and observations that reflect the issues faced by North Country workers. They are also seeking amusing comments made by outsiders that reflect the belief that there is no New York north of the Thruway.
