Annual Gould Discourse 5.15.20

This is an annual event in the former St. Lawrence district sponsored by the UUMA and LREDA chapters historically occurring the Friday evening before the district assembly. With the shift to online programming, it’s accessible across the region!

Gould Discourse 2020: Growing Souls in Congregations – Lessons from Nature and the PandemicLeah Purcell has served as the religious educator at Albany UU since 2007, first as Director of Religious Education and since 2018 as Director of Family Ministry.

On Friday May 15 from 7-9pm, we’ll look at an eco-centric model of human development which allows nature and our souls to be our guides. We’ll also consider how we are responding to the pandemic to think about new ways of faith development in our congregations.  This first-ever Gould Discourse presented via Zoom will allow us to create break out groups. So, you will have opportunities to talk briefly with other Unitarian Universalists about how you, personally, are responding to being in isolation; and also, to consider the implications of how your congregation is responding to the pandemic. Bring handicrafts or materials to doodle if you like; these activities often help people focus better when listening.
