Priest Field Garden

The Priest Field garden began in 2005 on a 22’ x 60’ plot located behind the Social Services Building on Judson Street in the village of Canton.  The garden now has well-tended beds, a drip watering system, a deer-proof fence, and a composting system.  In 2015 we grew peas, beets, chard, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, broccoli, beans, spinach and garlic in the garden.

We welcome volunteers!  Participate in one of our garden work parties, or consider adopting the garden for a week during the summer.

  • Work parties are scheduled mostly during planting and harvesting season, volunteers sign up to be notified when they are scheduled and come as they are able.
  • Garden adopters are asked to visit the garden two or three times during their week. Chores may include weeding, mulching, watering, or harvesting, depending on the time of the season.  You will be paired with an experienced volunteer who can show you what to do. To adopt a week(s) at the Priest Field Garden, click here then click on “Show all 18 options.”
