The Social Action Shared Offering (SASO) on Sunday, April 15 will benefit a local high school mentoring program, Lifted Out of Poverty (LOOP). This is a new and transformative program for girls in grades 9-12 who are living in poverty and experiencing trauma. Its director and founder is April Charleson, a Massena-based educator whose dedication stems in part from the fact that she grew up in circumstances similar to the girls in this program. LOOP involves intensive mentoring to help foster a sense of self, establish positive coping and thinking skills.
