Greeter Instructions

Assignments have been made more or less alphabetically from the most recent church directory. You will receive a postcard reminder early in the week your turn is coming up.

If you cannot greet on the day you are scheduled, please switch with someone else on the list. If you are unable to do so, call our back-up greeters coordinator, Stevie Michaelson, at 386-5250. If you are not on the list and would be willing to serve as a substitute, or if you are on the list and don’t mind greeting more than once, let Stevie know.

  • Greeters should arrive at church 15 minutes before the service begins.
  • You’ll find a sheet of greeter instructions next to the guest book and the name tag board.
  • Station yourselves at the front entrance and the door between the social room and sanctuary. Welcome everyone as they come in and give them an order of service. Please be especially aware of newcomers, and invite visitors to sign the guest book by the front door and take any literature that interests them.
  • As appropriate, direct newcomers with children to the Nursery or to Religious Education representatives.
NOTE: If there are enough greeters, someone can go to the back parking lot entrance to direct newcomers and help with the elevator.

Greeters also collect the offering. On most Sundays, three or four greeters are scheduled; only two are needed for the offering, so you can decide among yourselves who will do that. The Meet & Greet page explains how to take up the offering, if you are unsure.

One last task
: please assign one or two greeters to take a head count once the children have gone. Write the number on one of the sheets near the collection plates and place it in the plate.
