In Religious Education 10.8.17

This Sunday in religious education, our children and youth will learn about community through puzzles, continue considering conscience as a guide for moral decisions, create stepping stones, examine language and discuss being called to our faith in these turbulent times.

This Sunday our RE Ambassador is Esther Katz.

Nursery will be open and staffed by Katie Boczarski and Rebecca Pickens.

Spirit Play will have fun with puzzles with our focus on what it means to live in community, in the classroom, at the church and in our towns.

Teachers: Todd Moe and Shelby Hunkins

Moral Tales will continue to contemplate their own conscience as an inner voice that can guide them to make choices that effect goodness and justice.  They will dramatize the story “The Wise Teacher’s Test” and more.

Teachers: Jenn Whittaker and Kathy Wyckoff

Maker Space will be creating stepping stones for our new pollinator garden.  These stones will help create a welcoming entrance and exit to the garden.

Teachers: Ron Tavernier and Miles Manchester

OWL/Neighboring Faiths will continue the Our Wholes lives curriculum.  They will be examining language.

Teachers: Kelly Johnson-Eilola and Jim Williams

Youth Group  will engage in a small group ministry discussion, “A Call To Faith In Turbulent Times”.  We will hear the poem “Let America Be America Again” by Langston Hughes and share things that makes you angry, sad, or ashamed and things that bring you hope, and possibly joy.  Also ponder these questions, what constitutes a “great” America to you? What words and images from the Hughes poem speak to a vision you have for our country?

Advisors: Bill Short and Leo Burger
